Life is good

Well, despite the fact that Lylah has a fever AGAIN, and I had to stay home with her AGAIN today from school, life is really pretty good.

Going to get her from school made me realize a few things I should really be thankful for!

1.  I have a job where I am able to leave immediately to take care of my little girl.  it's amazing and fairly rare  to have such an opportunity.

2. To work with such stellar people who obviously value family over the job!  Thanks to Lauren Hounshell who is always willing to step up without question and take over on days that I have to take care of Ly.  And today I went to Alyssa Gomez who, again, without question agreed to cover my 4th period student council.  Because of these people, I am able to focus all of my energy on Ly, and not worry about school at all.

3.  The people at her daycare taking such good care of her!  Because they are always looking out for her, our daycare workers are the best!  When they found she had a fever, the held her pretty much until I got there!  Not everyone can say that about their daycare!  Sometimes, I bet, kids sit in a crib until their parents come.

4.  I am thankful for a day off from work.  Although I get  plenty of days off, it's nice to have a day here and there to be by myself.  Since Lylah is so sleepy, it really feels like a mental health day.  Days like this improve my teaching because I am able to re-energize and not have to be Mr. personality for anyone at all.

So those are just a few things I am thankful for.  Today was kind of a weird day anyhow.  When I woke up, Shannon and Lylah were nowhere to be found in the entire house!  I was so confused.  After walking around the house once, I found them both sleeping on the couch.  I was running a little late, so I slapped everything together and took off!  Lylah slept the whole way to daycare (which is odd for her - She normally screams).  Then, when I got to school, the power went out completely for about 45 minutes.  Our room went pitch black for about 2 minutes, then the emergency lights came on.  All of the kids were so excited and had hoped they stayed off all day.  There was even a rumor spreading that if they were out for more than an hour, they would get to go home!

I felt bad for the regular ed teachers, because their rooms all stayed pitch black!  They didn't have emergency lights come one (um, danger).  So some of them consolidated kids into other teachers rooms, or the taught in the hallway where there were windows.

Then right at the end of 2nd period I got the note about Lylah having a fever.  That's when I told Lauren and Alyssa I had to go.  So, that was my day thus far.  Here's hoping it doesn't get any more cray cray.
