So we all went up to Fort Worth this weekend to meet my parents and sisters. My mom, like a crazy woman, had her gallbladder taken out 5 days before she flew to Fort Worth to see everyone! She said she felt fine, and she looked well. But I still think it was a little crazy (mom!).
Anyway, Lylah had a blast hanging out with her 3 year old cousins. I think they really liked hanging out with her too!
On Saturday night, we all went out to dinner at Papadeaux seafood restaurant to celebrate Lylah's 1st birthday again! It was really awesome! The rumor going around was that Sandra Bullock was eating there. We think it was true because there was a pretty big crowd in a private room, and a giant limo outside!
My mom wanted to send Sandra Bullock a piece of Lylah's cake to see if she might come over and take a picture with Lylah. It never happened.
Below are some great pictures of Lylah digging into her smash cake!
This has been Lylah's weekend! It started before valentines day, when I was deciding what to give Shannon for the holiday. I decided to get the house deep cleaned for her and hire some maids to do it! Then, I decided that it would be fun to take Lylah to the Houston Children's museum downtown while our house was being cleaned. It needed it too! It was very apparent when we got home! Our house was incredibly clean!
Here are some pictures of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Lylah's official birthday is tomorrow (2/18), but why not have the experience. One is a big birthday! Thank you to all of your who bought Lylah a gift! Not all gifts are shown in the pictures.
So, I am not enjoying that more than a few of my posts over the past 7 months have been about illness. But, people keep telling me that babies get sick a lot because they are building their own immune system and that daycare brings a ton of different germs. In all honesty, we don't know if that is even what Lylah got it from this time.
So on Friday, the daycare sent an email that just said that Lylah was having very loose bowels in her diapers, but that she was still happy and playful. They had introduced her to whole milk about a week and a half prior, so we didn't think much of it. They didn't say I needed to come get her, but that they were just keeping me in the loop.
All weekend was kind of the same story. We fed her the formula that we had left over, hoping to start her on whole milk (like the daycare had been doing). So I bought whole milk on Saturday night and we began feeding it to her on Sunday.
Everything seemed absolutely fine! I think she spit up twice, but we didn't find this unusual. Her bowels were still a little loose, but she seemed to be feeling herself.
This morning we woke up, and Shannon was the first to arrive at the scene. Lylah had thrown up in her crib. It was on her pjs, and in the upper part of her crib. She never cried or anything last night to let us know if anything was amiss.
Upon further inspection, her diaper was no better. It was completely full and overflowing again (despite going up a diaper size over the weekend, as well). It was a real mess. She wasn't running fever, but I made the decision to stay home to monitor her and at this point I am fearing a little bit of dehydration. Her diapers still seem to be a little soaked and she hasn't cried at all to monitor for tears.
I called the on call doctor and she said it was hard to tell if it were a stomach virus or the new diet, as both usually show very similar signs. She recommended that we go back on formula for a week or two and try whole milk again. If she doesn't take the whole milk at that time, to make a doctors appointment and go into see the doctor. She also recommended pedialyte if I see that she is looking dehydrated.
I went to walgreens and picked up formula and pedialyte. She drank about 2 ounces of the water formula. I also picked up some of her old formula to feed her later. I wish that she would finish the rest of the water. But I am not sure she likes it.
Now she is just back and playing, like normal. I just want to make sure she is at least hydrated before going back to school tomorrow.
Here is a video of her playing that I took a few minutes ago. Again, she seems to feel just fine! If you listen carefully, she is either singing or talking.
Today is a somewhat lazy Sunday! Lylah took a nap with us in bed this morning, then we all went out to Babies R. Us to stack up on some supplies we needed for her. One of the things we needed were cabinet protectors. She is starting to open cabinets with different cleaners and such in them! We don't want her getting into those things, for sure!
Last night, we took Lylah to see a show at CyFair HS! It was a really great show! The high school teachers do such a great job! We could only stay for the first half because Lylah had fallen fast asleep and was being awoken by the applause and loud music. So we came home about 8:30 and put her to bed! I got to see most of my former students performing though! They did such a great job! I was such a proud Choir papa! :-)
Lylah was going through some of her toys that I was planning on storing. As you can see,, many of these items have been bagged up and Lylah got into them anyway. I guess she doesn't like to see things go away.
A few minutes later, we found that she had somehow fallen into a crevice between one of her toys and the wall. She is starting to get more brazen, that's for sure!!!
