So on Friday, the daycare sent an email that just said that Lylah was having very loose bowels in her diapers, but that she was still happy and playful. They had introduced her to whole milk about a week and a half prior, so we didn't think much of it. They didn't say I needed to come get her, but that they were just keeping me in the loop.
All weekend was kind of the same story. We fed her the formula that we had left over, hoping to start her on whole milk (like the daycare had been doing). So I bought whole milk on Saturday night and we began feeding it to her on Sunday.
Everything seemed absolutely fine! I think she spit up twice, but we didn't find this unusual. Her bowels were still a little loose, but she seemed to be feeling herself.
This morning we woke up, and Shannon was the first to arrive at the scene. Lylah had thrown up in her crib. It was on her pjs, and in the upper part of her crib. She never cried or anything last night to let us know if anything was amiss.
Upon further inspection, her diaper was no better. It was completely full and overflowing again (despite going up a diaper size over the weekend, as well). It was a real mess. She wasn't running fever, but I made the decision to stay home to monitor her and at this point I am fearing a little bit of dehydration. Her diapers still seem to be a little soaked and she hasn't cried at all to monitor for tears.
I called the on call doctor and she said it was hard to tell if it were a stomach virus or the new diet, as both usually show very similar signs. She recommended that we go back on formula for a week or two and try whole milk again. If she doesn't take the whole milk at that time, to make a doctors appointment and go into see the doctor. She also recommended pedialyte if I see that she is looking dehydrated.
I went to walgreens and picked up formula and pedialyte. She drank about 2 ounces of the water formula. I also picked up some of her old formula to feed her later. I wish that she would finish the rest of the water. But I am not sure she likes it.
Now she is just back and playing, like normal. I just want to make sure she is at least hydrated before going back to school tomorrow.
Here is a video of her playing that I took a few minutes ago. Again, she seems to feel just fine! If you listen carefully, she is either singing or talking.
